Kristi and I have these wonderful friends who hail from Canada but travel to and fro in planes and a giant RV with Sam the dog spreading acoustic joy (some of you will recall our story of Canadian friends who helped demolish a chimney to jumpstart our 2007 kitchen remodel – this is them!). Karla Adolphe is part of the duo Jacob and Lily (along with Caleb Friesen) who have gained increasing fame and critical acclaim for their singing and songwriting. In fact you can hear a great 3 song live set of them on NPR – they were selected from among 5 winners to play the main stage (opening for the likes of Patty Loveless) at the 7th Annual Mountain Stage NewSong contest for performing songwriters. The best is listening to their song “Ruby” because Karla mentions that the song is about a prostitute but named after a chocolate lab in Seattle, yes, our dog, Ruby. She’s famous now. Karla recorded a solo project with Worship Circle Records last year called Chair and Microphone Vol 3 and it’s a collection of solo gospel tunes. We’re hosting a house concert for Karla in the family room at our new place in Kirkland on Wednesday, February 4th at 7:30 pm. You can hear and buy the album here. | |||
